HILLSBORO,TX—Hill College recently received a $25,000 endowment scholarship through Brookshire Grocery Co.’s (BGC) “Focus on the Future” scholarship program, which collectively donated $1 million to more than 40 universities and colleges in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas.

“We are very excited to launch a lasting program which will help thousands of students achieve their dreams for years to come,” said Brad Brookshire, Chairman and CEO for BGC. “We support our local communities and value education, which is one of our top philanthropic efforts.”

This program is designed to reward students in BGC’s market areas for their dedication, hard work and outstanding academic achievements. The donation to Hill College will serve undergraduate students with a financial need.

“The scholarships that will be possible as a result of this endowment will directly help students attain a college degree that they otherwise may not have been able to afford,” said Hill College Director of Development Leigh Ebner. “Hill College works to extend educational opportunities to all patrons, and partnerships with organizations like Brookshire’s help us achieve that goal.”

Scholarships from the “Focus on the Future” endowment will be available beginning fall 2021. Ebner encourages students interested in applying to do so within regular scholarship application deadlines. Applications for fall 2021-2022 will open Feb. 1, 2021 and close June 1, 2021.

“Scholarships allow Hill College to continue to make significant efforts in achieving our mission of enhancing educational, cultural and economic development in our area,” said Ebner. “We are proud to fill the leadership role of preparing citizens for a productive life through educational opportunities.”
